Best Men's Wallets Under 100 Dollars

Finding a decent wallet that doesn’t break the bank is no easy task. They always seem to be too thick, too flimsy or too expensive. In this article, I’ll show you some of the best bang for the buck wallets you can buy.

Big Skinny wallets take a different approach. Instead of being made of leather, they’re made of a thin nylon, which makes them thinner and lighter than most traditional wallets. As a sides effects of this choice, these wallets are completely vegan and machine washable too!

Bellroy Hide and Seek #

The Bellroy Hide and Seek has the traditional wallet look. However, it also has a neat feature: hidden compartments for bills, cards and even coins, where you can keep select items hidden away from prying eyes. Not only that, it also comes with RFID protection and many buyers swear by Bellroy’s wallets’ quality and durability. In particular, this wallet’s leather will develop a beautiful patina through the years, only looking better with age.

There’s also a version for taller european bills, which is sometimes hard to find when looking for wallets to buy online.

Secrid Miniwallet #

One of the smallest wallets on this list, the Secrid Miniwallet will still hold a surprising number of cards, as well as some folded bills.

Secrid are the pioneers of this style of card holder, where a patented mechanism slides out your cards from an aluminium cover, which protects them when not in use and also blocks against RFID attacks.

In particular, I recommend the Miniwallet version as many buyers of the Slimwallet report that it very rapidly loses it shapes and starts to break apart. On the other hand, the Miniwallet has shown to be robust and is not much bulkier than its Slimwallet counterpart.

Not directly related to the wallet but amusing nonetheless, is that Secrid offsets 100% of the CO2 produced during the production of their wallets, which shows their commitment to the environment and with sustainability.

Allett ID Wallet #

Much like the Big Skinny earlier in the article, Allett makes wallets made out of a nylon fabric, which makes them thinner, water resistant and still very durable.

In addition to that, this wallet also comes with RFID protection and has a very unique feature: a compartment for the brand’s Micro pen, which really comes in handy.

It’s available in a variety of bright colors, although my preference is the more subtle Jet Black version.

Probably the most minimalist wallet on the list, the Slimmy wallet gets its name from its ultra minimalist design: it only has one pocket for both bills and cards.

It’s made from a durable full-grain leather and this version in particular is slightly larger than the original design, to accomodate larger bills from other countries.

Thanks to its design, the wallet achieves unmatched thinness, while still being very practical.

Saddleback Leather ID Wallet #

A fan favorite, the ID Wallet from Saddleback Leather is very well known and loved, thanks to its legendary durability and their unique marketing. It certainly is another wallet which will develop a lovely patina over time, so much so that your grandchildren will “fight over it when you’re dead”.

They’re also known for having great customer support and claim a 100 year warranty, so you’ll have no trouble getting a replacement if it comes to that.

However, here are some aspects to keep in mind when considering buying this wallet:

  • When it’s new, the leather is very stiff and thick and can very easily break your cards. Let it loosen up in the beginning before storing important cards.
  • The price has climbed considerably over time.
  • A couple of years ago, Saddleback started to produce products with leathers that had visible scars and scratches, which may be quite ugly in some cases (or may make your wallet special and personal, if that’s your perspective).
  • Despite the great marketing, it’s a shame their leather is not the best of the best. It’s not full grain vegetable tanned leather but, nonetheless great, full grain chrome tanned leather.
